muffler tears it up on this latest release from sigh co records. on the a side >dirrrty< kicks off with suspensful strings before dropping into a tech based stormer with its grumbling bass and rolling beats. whilst on the aa >mankind< keeps the groove more minimal, relying on the b line which sounds like a digeridoo on crack with subtle hooks and stepped beats.

blasta s saga comes to an end with part 3 of his incredible adventures of kenzolika and quetzalcoatl among the air castles series. the product of an over-active imagination, this series has fused dubstep and post-garage riddims with traces of jazzy easy listening and psyched exotica. the most successful effort here has to be the garage rollidge of black muscatel offset by smooth and dreamy-clean synth keys, while zeppelin nacelle sails off with gently propulsive garage bass and trip42 brings the story to an end with down pitched dubstep beats subsiding into sunset 303s.

ia2 showcases all kinds of broken beats and trademark here provide another 3 varied tracks, with great support all round. new frontiers is a funky, upbeat broken dancey track and has had loads of support from promos. great progression through the track and some great riffs and percussion. outworld has been compared to early earth stuff from bukem and cafe del mar stuff, deep broken beats and sunny pads, great arrangement. lovely deep bass and textures. south central is a more straight up broken track, probably the most chilled of the bunch live live sounding bass and a nice deep vibe.

ia stands for 4/4 beats and the label starts with a bang with three great and quite different 4/4 tracks for many deep and tech floors, and tropic of capricorn for more chilled moments. elevator is crisp deep/tech house which slowly builds and just rocks! with a wicked solid deep bassline too that keeps things really groovy. jack o diamonds also has that clean crisp sound and groovy bass with synth stabs and lots of funk for loads of different dancefloors. its a bit more upbeat than elevator and also has wicked deep bass to keep peeps movin! saturn 5 is deeper, darker, subtle and just a massive deep phat sound which is totally awesome on any decent system, wonderful deep textures and pads - just really lush. tropic of capricorn is a deep detroity broken beat track that compliments the others. crisp production again and not too cluttered, it does what it needs to and works in many different situations.

after the success of their collaboration with paul thomas on last years festival anthem >arena<, mark knight and funkagenda join forces once again on one of the most eagerly anticipated tracks showcased at this years miami wmc.
>good times< is the feel good anthem of the summer comprising of a modest intro with a warbling bass line driving slowly through collecting sounds, before opening up into an edgy synth stab and finally the insanely catchy vocal hook >these are the good times<! the track drops back in like a speeding locomotive train going full steam ahead, with cleverly placed percussion, fx and siren sounds soaring to create an intense rhythm.
on the flip, >flauta magica< shows the diversity of these two acclaimed producers when they get in the studio together. taking a different route from the lead track and concentrating more on the groove, >flauta magica< chugs along nicely with an almost tribal percussive feel to it. the excellent chanting vox sample, reminiscent of the early house sound, keeps the groove rolling along into the drop. taking the lead from the tracks name, a whistling flute riff drops elevating the musical vibe to a new balearic level.

slam bring us the third chapter in their devestating paragraph series, following up their dancefloor destroyer, hot knives that was played by the biggest djs around and dubbed as one of carl craig s favourites of the last few months. the label s previous releases have already had big support from the rest of the techno fraternity, including legends richie hawtin, adam beyer, dubfire, anja schneider, len faki and francois kevorkian.
paragraph number 3 delivers some deep, bass-heavy electronic funk on the a-side, with one note samba . grooving from the off-set, the percussive elements of the track wind around a solid and heavy sub bass, introducing dubbed-out horns reminiscent of slam s freelance science days. hypnotic and tripped out, slam return to their house roots.
on the aa room 2 , dedicated to one of the world s best clubs, fabric, where slam hold a residency, keeps with the stripped-down, rhythmic and gritty sound of paragraph. whilst constantly fluctuating echoes and delays control the rhythm of the track, a swirling, yet straight to the point synth creates some frenzied and panic-inducing builds throughout, leading to a wholesome and satisfying ride cymbal. room 2 is a killer, peak-time track that will be sure to induce some serious convulsions on dance-floor.

for release n° 28, long-time clr artist alex bau returns with two massive new tracks full of good ideas and positive energy. chris liebing had the pleasure to play out the disaster-mix for quite a while and to convince himself of the unexceptionally sensational crowd reaction. the rhythm is permanently varying, the atmosphere often changes immediately and the sounds come and go in surprising ways.
the flashback-mix is wonderfully thrifty and has a powerful bass. alex bau once more shows versatility and dedication to experiment with rhythmic and sonic possibilities. the slow building and the subtle use of beat variations and breaks underline the almost mesmerizing effect of this outstanding groove.

dave huismans aka 2562 with his a made up sound project. archive contains four raw house tracks from the vaults with their roots in detroit and chicago house. ‘bounce’ and ‘disconnect’ combine the best of two worlds: the more traditional sample based house grooves and the spacious sounds and wrenching sub bass that have become his trademark. the same goes for the other two tracks... ‘wire’ is a phat acid track with a great drive. a strange atmosphere and a unique combination of classic structures with new and old sounds. this track will make sure that the sweat is dripping off those basement walls! ‘on&on’ has that catchy drunken beat slightly reminding of some theo parrish productions... finished with futuristic technoid synth stabs and pulsating acid-ish bass sounds that make this a great abstract & stripped-down house work out! killer!

sometimes a track is so hot it just has to come back around again. about ten years ago brett johnson and dave barker (stucco homes) wrote some unbelievably catching house tunes, one of them being temptation and lies. so it just seemed right to give this track yet another life. deadbeat and mike shannon dive deep into a stripped down techno groover, removing the constant use of the vocals and creating a rolling techno dub version. some seriously deep bass in the production that works the subs in all the right places. ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont aka chic miniature give you a playful melodic version on the flip. full use of the original chord progressions, combined with the guys signature marimba/latin percussion leaving you with a lush, warm summer hit. then brett dives into the track again giving you the oohs and ahhs mix. a ten minutes work out with bjs patented groove focused on the vocal harmonies in the original. the result is a warped, spaced out, long player that is sure to twist a few heads. mental just about sums it up. of course we had to include the original masterpiece for those who didnt find it the first time round. a favorite of everyone involved on the remix project i think youll agree that the temptation and lies cynosure mixes do the original some justice.

steven espee patton is a young talented dj and producer from glasgow. his electro music is deeply influenced by the deep sea resonance of drexciya as well as other dark and enigmatic artists, such as aphex twin, lory d, dj stingray 313, underground resistance, and artists from his beloved glasgow such as rustie, voltaic, chordata. glasgow itself he calls a huge inspiration to his productions. merging all these influences, espee creates his own individual musical world - a combination of enchanting melodies, intricate bass lines and fat beats. espee is a refreshing up and coming artist and with his own unique style he helps to keep electro alive.

sven tasnadi is a producer who, with every release, audibly and gracefully takes his style down the many different avenues of house and techno cityà his latest, brave work for poker flat then could perhaps be described as a midnight drive down main street, tempted by and lingering at some of the darker side streets, yet journeying on regardlessà.! its a fantastic ride from tasnadi, that sees two versions of the title cut plus a perfect b side track included for good measure. >habanero< is a tough, tracky concoction of thick bass led percussion, warbling, building sci-fi synths and classy hi-end hats. the unmistakable groove begins low and simply builds upwards, creating a 10 minute cabride through ultra-modern tech house, cuba style! we wont spoil the fun with the tingling breakdowns key momentà but theres also a (without trumpet) version on the b1à.! carrying on the chunky, dramatic vibes, >piri piri< dubs things out as a blissful and unique synth line carries this beautiful journey track along its honest and respectful path. a wonderfully resolute deeper moment from tasnadi, the phasing vocal stutters and pads play together with the central in delightful harmony, reminding us of the producers ear for touching and timeless arrangements

permanent vacation are delighted to bring you the second chapter of the first space oddities saga compiled by alexis le-tan (music journalist and member of the tigersushi bass system) and jess (formerly of the famed french house duo jess & crabbe and now drummer for punk band 10lec6). the pair met in 2001 through a mutual love of no-wave and leftfield disco. in 2003 jess came upon a big collection of library music, which he bought for next to nothing. whilst he was ciphering through it and finding the most interesting extracts, alexis was digging in all things cosmic, where along the way he also started to pick up many bits and pieces of obscure mood musics. in 2007, they put together some of their best space disco treasures giving birth to the highly acclaimed space oddities project released last july. as the first episode of space oddities was reaching to an end and following the amazing feedback they received, the parisian duo started working on the next volume in the heat of 2008’s sunny days. a new direction was chosen: more organic, guitar lead and psychedelic than the previous one, still focusing on the dancefloor and their love for freaky synths and fierce beats.

eddie leader teams up with dallas vocalist red eye (robsoul / dotbleep) & manchesters moodymanc (2020 vision / dessous) for a techy affair thats receiving support from the likes of josh wink, milton jackson, laurent garnier & charles webster amongst others. the original is a tough deep house track which will also raise a smile from techno fans. eddie uses moody keys and twisted stabs accompanied by red eyes slick vocals and live percussion from dubble d is thrown in for good measure. dubble d adopts his moodymanc alias for the remix and pulls out a sound reminiscent of maw drums and a mr fingers bass line cutting up the vocals nicely for a dubby effect. leader also throws in a bonus track that would work nicely in the early hours. hudd traxx have been on a roll as of late and this is more of the same ,-) plays from - josh wink, milton jackson, charles webster, agnes, laurent garnier & loads more ...

fritto morto 003 sees gatto frittos invisible college getting a timely re release. originally out on dissident, invisible college has been a big record for beardos from hoxton to hawaii. it became a firm favourite at londons disco bloodbath and cosmic truth nights aswell as across the pond at harveys sarcastic parties. a long acoustic guitar driven balearic trip propelled by synth bass, disco toms, clavinet and fender rhodes with a summery disposition. the b side your dreams are my nightmares is 9 minutes of highlife guitars squalling 101s, backwards vocals and white noise snares with a pure pop number buried underneath...the sort of thing paul simon and doris norton might have made if they had been sectioned and were in a music therapy group together.

drawing you in with its hypnotic nursery rhyme riffs, breathy samples, crushing bass and huge hyncopated drums which create pay tvs libidinously rare grooves coming on like a 21st century serge gainsbourg with added dancefloor savvy.

jay haze(tuning spork) lends his analog ways to abe+blakes classic >disco lights<. the release includes a recut version of the original track ad well(adr07). the haze mix is thick and thumps. deep chords and deeper bass. a warm house version that keeps baxter lighting the way.

per martinsen aka mental overdrive shouldnt need any introduction being the granddad of the norwegian electronic music scene and all... hidden away in a little snowcave near the polar circle hes currently preparing the bits that eventually will become his debut album for full pupp.weve heard some bits and though wed like to keep them all under the lid for a little while longer, heres a little sneak peek of what hes done and hopefully preparing you off his unique take on modern dance music taking in elements of new wave, new beat, detroit and dubstep on the way. per unleashed this on us at one of the full pupp nights in oslo and recently we saw how it took the roof off at fabric... for the b-side we paired per up with the equally detroit-loving blackbelt andersen which gives us a hi-speed samba techno work out with a unhealthy deep bass.

on their introductory minus ep, click box offers a refreshing return to a bygone era of classic instrumentals, full of experimentation and passion generated by that ongoing love affair between man and machine. berlin shades starts out in a jittery minimal fashion but soon dives much deeper as the tough electro bassline expands and contracts dragging the dancer to and fro. the cascading hook and in-your-face sci-fi synth motif add a sense of tongue-in-cheek drama to a dynamic arrangement that incorporates steep inclines, sharp drops and snaking pathways. as the short staccato bass riff gains momentum and the hook comes round for the second time you just know somethings lying in wait and the boys certainly dont disappoint. lost road is anything but a blind alley, kicking off with some low-slung interplay between a two-note bassline and a whiplash snare that dishes out a serious spanking. hi-hats fizz across the audio spectrum, cleverly pitching up and down before a drunken bass sequence ushers in the main section with its sliding, twisted synth distortions primed for surprise and immediate disorientation. once all the elements are in play, the fun really starts with so many objects of interest competing for attention. the arrangement is pulled and pushed to great effect extracting maximum effect from this tough little unit. more electro flavour to the fore as the loose, broken beat intro and robot sounds of some toys make for some slick moves on the dancefloor. the retro synth riffs and dark spiralling pads conjure up images of some early 80s lab full of computer kids in white coats twiddling knobs on huge mainframe monoliths. the bouncing bass and analogue belches make this a must for all retro-tastic electro-boogie fans. the theme continues over into voxer as rising filtered bass tones playout over another trademark click box drum pattern, this time doused in heavy reverb and delay. an array of analogue bleeps, screams and laser beams keep the motor ticking over.

already a mainstay in the scene with admired releases on brother label poker flat, and of course connaisseur, patrick chardronnet returns with a wonderful 2 track ep on audiomatique. a delightfully trippy, post-minimal adventure, ‚piper‘ raises the brow for chardronnet, dropping the big room synths this time in favour of a very organic, low-slung addictive groove. sparse, tricky percussion underpins the headsdown late night vibe, as a drifting ensemble of mystic vocals and haunting horns unfolds over 11 minutes. enchanting, mesmeric and deeply spaced, this reduced-percussive foray explores chardronnet‘s more hypnotic side... a priceless cut of of hybrid house from a modern master. on the b side the driving, textural chimes of ‚dropout‘ ensnare the listener into another beautiful and mysterious world. solid-state, bass-led percussion and crisply-cut percussive fx remain subdued whilst an epic, swirling synth landscape weaves its dreamy tale. suggesting moments of real drama, yet all the while maintaining an addictive, slow burning vibe, its a an amazing journey into this producer‘s remarkable, inimitable sonic world.
